In the tenth episode of Didaktik:Dialog, I speak with Jochen Heins about forms of support in literature education—exploring, for example, how assignments can enable students to work independently with texts. We examine how scaffolding, through targeted guidance and the gradual reduction of support, fosters greater autonomy, and how to strike the right balance between openness and direction in the classroom. We discuss why overly prescriptive tasks can unsettle high-achieving students, while too little support can limit understanding. Jochen shares insights from research and practice and also reflects on how reading circles, author encounters, or poetry slams can cultivate a vibrant literary culture.
