In this episode of Didaktik:Dialog, I talk with Cathrin Reisenauer, Senior Scientist at the Institute for Teacher Education and School Research at the University of Innsbruck and counselling teacher in Tyrol, about inclusive education, shared learning in heterogeneous classrooms, and the question of how schools can become places where all children truly have their place. We discuss why inclusion is a shared responsibility of all teachers, what role didactic models play in this, and how differently schools implement inclusion in practice. Cathrin also introduces understanding-based diagnostics as an approach to challenging behaviour, which she has tested as an effective alternative to rigid regulatory measures: relationship-oriented, relieving, and focused on the question "What purpose does a behaviour serve?" rather than merely searching for causes.
